Semi Permanent Makeup Removal

Semi Permanent Makeup Removal

Although cosmetic tattoos and semi-permanent makeup can give great results, there are times when clients are unhappy with the outcome. To restore the original appearance and regain confidence, we offer semi-permanent makeup removal for eyebrows and lip liner with our specialist Inkaway laser.
The demand for permanent makeup removal has increased in line with the popularity of permanent makeup treatments. This popularity, combined with the lack of regulations and uncertified artists, means that unfortunately botched permanent makeup is something that can happen.
All of our equipment is of the highest industry standard and guarantees a safe and results-driven experience for our clients. Before beginning any treatment, we recommend booking a free consultation in which we will plan a tailored treatment plan based on your requirements and taking in account any contraindications.

semi-permanent makeup Removal Process

We offer a free one to one consultation where we will assess your cosmetic tattoo/s, discuss your goals for removal, check your medical history and evaluate your suitability for the treatment. You will also have the opportunity to see our equipment and clinic and ask any questions that you might have. The consultation should give you all the information necessary to make an informed decision about permanent make up removal.

During each cosmetic tattoo removal session, a high intensity light is emitted from our specialist Inkaway laser and absorbed by the tattoo pigment. The pigment then breaks down and is absorbed by your body’s immune system.
During each session, the laser will target ink deeper in the skin, lightening and fading the pigment until it disappears completely.

Immediately after treatment, you will find that the treatment area may be red and swollen. In the following days, it may blister or scab, but it is vital that you refrain from scratching or picking the area. We also recommend:

  • Keep it dry as much as possible and avoid hot showers and baths for 2 weeks.
  • Avoid swimming, saunas and steam rooms for the first few weeks.
  • Keep it clean by patting with a wet cloth, do not rub the area.
  • Do not wear makeup for at least 3 days.
  • Avoid UV exposure (sunshine and tanning beds) and wear SPF 50 for at least 6 weeks.
We will also give you full aftercare advice at each session.

Cosmetic Tattoo Removal FAQs

The main difference between traditional cosmetic tattooing is the techniques and type of ink used. This means that cosmetic tattoos are much easier to remove.

Laser permanent make up removal is effective on all types of semi-permanent makeup, including eyebrow tattoo removal, permanent eyeliner, scalp micropigmentation or a lip tattoo. It is most commonly used for microblading removal, along with other brow treatments.

Lasers have been used to remove tattoos for many years but are also highly effective on permanent make up laser pigments that are black and brown, which are most common for brow and eyeliner tattoos.
Laser treatment, however, is not very effective at removing pigments that contain titanium dioxide, which is used to lighten pigments. The problem with titanium dioxide is that it can turn grey during laser treatment.

Your cosmetic tattoo must be at least 6 months old in order to be treated. In the first 6 months, the pigment is too intense and there is a risk of scarring if treated with a laser.

There are a few things you must do to prepare for your permanent make up laser removal:
• Your skin must not be tanned or sunburned.
• You should be hydrated.
• You should avoid shaving, waxing or exfoliating the area.
• Do not take an aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs; these can increase bleeding.

The number of sessions required will depend on a number of factors, including the age of the tattoo, how saturated it is and the characteristics of your skin. Because the pigments in permanent makeup are placed at a shallower depth than traditional tattoos, they are usually easier to remove. You can expect to have between 2 and 10 sessions, all of which should be spaced at 6-8 week intervals.

The treatment area is likely to be red and tender after sessions, but applying an ice pack can help to reduce discomfort. In some cases, clients experience blistering, in which case we recommend leaving it to heal and not breaking the skin.

We use state of the art equipment which means that hair or pigment loss is very rare. On the rare occasion that this does happen, it is only temporary, and your brows will grow back. We will discuss all these matters during your consultation.

Everyone is different, but the majority of our clients say that laser treatment feels like an elastic band being flicked against the skin. Because the face is more delicate that other areas, it can feel slightly more uncomfortable. During your consultation, we can carry out a patch test so that you know what to expect.
